Care Packages was the first in a series of activist work under the moniker of ARTivention. 17 prayer mats were created in collaboration with students from Roosevelt University and the public. The prayer mats were sent to the Uighur detainees at Guantanamo Bay in 2008 and participants also signed a letter of protest to the Department of Defense through Human Rights Watch. In addition to the humanitarian issue of detention, the project also explored Muslim identity in the U.S. as participants from Muslim and non-Muslim communities participated together in the making of the mats.
